Nebula       A nebula is a cloud of dust, hydrogen, helium, and other gases but mainly hydrogen and helium. The gases are left from the big bang if that’s how the galaxy was created. It is the event when a star either is shaped or explodes. The word nebula is the Latin for mist or cloud. A nebula was originally the name for any diffuse object for example galaxies that were past the Milky Way. Nebulas or nebulae come in many different shapes and sizes. There are 4 main types of nebulas. The diffuse, planetary, supernova, and dark nebulae. Diffuse nebulae or falsely referred to as gaseous nebulae are thin and widespread and where stars are frequently formed, creating many stars. Planetary nebulae are a type of emission nebulae. An emission nebula is a nebula made from ionized gases. Most of the gases come from nearby hot stars late in their life. Supernova remnant is what is left from the explosion of a star in a supernova. A supernova is the explosion of a big star. The supernova remnant is made of expanding shock waves. Dark nebulae is so dense it blocks light from objects behind it. Nebulae emit light because they are a chemical reaction that create lots of light in many different colors. Asteroids       Asteroids are like planets but are too small to be considered a planet. Asteroids are also known as planetoids or minor planets. There are millions of asteroids ranging in size. The size can vary from hundreds of kilometers to a few feet across. Though they could be small, asteroids can be very dangerous. Some have even hit earth and will most likely hit the earth in the future. Asteroids are the leftovers from the creation of our solar system believed to be about 4.6 billion years ago. Early in the life of our solar system, the birth of Jupiter prevented any planetary objects form forming the space between Mars and Jupiter. An asteroid reflects light. They are a meteor not in the earth’s atmosphere and do not of the flame behind them or any chemical reaction.Saturn’s RingSaturn’s ring was discovered by Galileo Galilei who saw them in his telescope. The particles of the ring ranges from icy grains the size of dust to very little particles as large as mountains. Two small moons orbit in gaps in the rings, keeping the rings open. The ring itself is made of billions of pieces of ice, dust, and rocks. The rings are believed to be about 400 thousand kilometers wide which is the distance between the Earth and the Moon but the rings are as little as 100 meters thick. There are actually many different rings maybe up to 1000. The ring reflects light. There are only bits of ice and rocks and some humongous pieces of ice or rock but no objects that emit light.
